Google Webmaster Search Console to index your website
Google Search Console indexes your sitemap and page URLs.
Also it monitors your website performance. It analyses the data statistics, crawl report, error, securities, site download speed etc.
You can get the performance result against each URL of your web page.
So let’s start to sign up and to index your website.
Visit Google Webmaster Search Console.
There are two methods to index your website in Google Webmaster Search Console.
- By entering your domain (via DNS verification)
- By entering the URLs
The first method i.e. with your domain and using DNS verification is recommended. The reason is that if you put your domain, all other sub-domains and URLs are covered.
But in case of the second method, only that particular sub-domain is covered. Hence, you have to enter the individual URL of your pages.
Here we will go with the first method to index your website in Google Webmaster Search Console.
Put your domain name and click on “Continue”.
You can see the below screen for domain ownership verification via DNS record.
You need to sign in to your domain provider.
Copy the ‘TXT’ record as shown in the above snap and paste it in the DNS server of your domain provider.
Now, press the “VERIFY” button.
It may take some time (one or two days maximum) to update this ‘TXT’ value in your domain provider’s DNS zone.
Hence, if the Google Search Console cannot find the record immediately, you have to wait a little bit and try again later.
Once you complete the above process, you will sign in to the Search Console.
You can find the Search Console dashboard as below:
Submit Sitemap to Google Search Console
Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling.
As per ‘sitemaps.org’, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site. It includes when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site.
To submit your sitemap, click on the “Sitemaps” in the left side menu of the dashboard.
Then add your ‘.XML’ sitemaps and submit.

How to check the ‘crawl’ status of your website?
To check the crawl status of your website, click on the “Crawl stats” button in the left side menu of your dashboard.
It’ll show you the Googlebot activity in the last 90 days. You can find the statistics of the pages crawled per day, site loading speed etc.
If the rate of crawls per day increases, it’s better for your site.
Also the higher loading speed of your site will impress Google to index your website faster.
How to check if your website is indexed in Google?
Go to Google and type “site:yourwebsite.com”.
If you can find any result, it means your website is already indexed in Google. It’ll show approximate pages which are indexed in Google.
But ‘no result’ means the website is not indexed in Google.
You can get the full coverage of your indexing status in Google Search Console dashboard under “Coverage”.
You need to fix the errors, if any, as soon as possible.
To inspect any URL of your website, click on the “URL inspection” button in the left side menu of your Search Console dashboard.
Paste any of your URL and see whether it is indexed or not.
“URL is on Google” means it is already indexed in Google Search Console.
